The Family Ministry Center provides professional counseling services from a Christian
perspective for individuals, couples and families.
Counseling is provided for a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety, parenting and
family problems, caregiver issues, grief, and life-stage adjustments. We love doing premarital
counseling, and believe that this is a critical step in establishing a healthy marriage. Our particular
passion is for taking broken and hurting marriages and helping restore them to God's design for
how a marriage relationship is supposed to work. Many people assume that unfaithfulness means
the end of a marriage, but it has been our experience that when a couple will trust God to help
them through difficult times, their marriage ends up stronger than it was before. It is not easy,
but it is worth it in the end.
Our therapist is Tammy Zwarst, MA, LPC, MLFT, BCPCC. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
in 1990 from Oklahoma Baptist Univeristy, and a Master of Arts in Family Therapy from Univeristy
of Houston-Clear Lake in 1995. She is fully licensed by the State of Texas as both a Licensed
Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She is also certified
by the International Board of Christian Counselors as a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor (BCPCC).
Tammy has been married to her husband Mike since 1991. They have two children, Cory and Rachel.
The Zwarsts are active members of Nassau Bay Baptist Church, where they have served in a number of
roles through the years.
Counseling fees are paid by those receiving services. However, because of the relationship with
Galveston Baptist Association, fees for these services are significantly lower than the average rate
for similar services. Additional adjustments are considered for GBA church members with pastor
recommendation. Tammy is an in-network provider for United Healthcare, BlueCross/BlueShield,
Aetna, Cigna, Humana, and Behavioral Health Systems.
Churches and small groups may request Tammy as a speaker for their event or workshop. She had been
invited to ladies' Bible studies, adult luncheons, Sunday night worship services and other fun get-togethers.
She has been well-trained to never show up without her jar of M&M's! If you have questions, just call to
